Pagaruyung

Pagaruyung Nagari, which is located near the Batusangkar, capital city of Tanah Datar district, West Sumatra. This was the Nagari is the capital of the kingdom Pagaruyung.

One of the important tourist destination in Tanah Datar, Istano Basa, there are in this Nagari. Istano Basa is a replica of the castle Pagaruyung in the past.

KerajaanPagaruyung is a kingdom that once stood, including the provinces of West Sumatra, now and in the regions surrounding. The name is derived from the kingdom of the capital, which is in Nagari Pagaruyung. The Kingdom is established by a prince from the Majapahit named Adityawarman in the year 1347. Kingdom Pagaruyung become Sultanate of Islam around the year 1600-an. Although Adityawarman is a prince of Majapahit, he actually has the blood of Malay. In its history, in the year 1286, the King statue Amogapacha Kertanagara reward for Darmasraya Kingdom in Minangkabau. Pagaruyung power of the king is very weak when the Padri War, although the king is still respected. Areas in the west coast fall to the influence of Aceh, while Inderapura in the southern coastal practical become independent kingdom, although still subject to formal Pagaruyung king. The Kingdom is collapsed during the Padri War as a result of the conflict and the intervention of the colonial Dutch in the mid-19th century. Before the kingdom was established, the actual community in the Minangkabau region already has a political system which is a kind of confederation consensus from various institutions and Nagari luhak. Seen from the continuity of history, the Kingdom Pagaruyung such changes are merely administrative system for the local community (tribe of Minang)
